Wynnie Chan is an associate, lawyer and registered trademark agent practicing at the IP boutique firm, Bereskin & Parr LLP.  Wynnie is also licensed to practice in New York.  Her practice focuses on trademark prosecution and enforcement, related licensing and litigation.  Among her diverse range of clients, Wynnie works with those in the retail and apparel industry, and assists them with brand clearance and trademark strategy.  She also handles domain name disputes, copyright infringement matters and legal issues regarding new media.

While in law school, Wynnie worked as a legal intern at Burberry with their IP counsel in New York helping prevent counterfeiting online and on the streets.  She also spent a semester in London, England studying International Law, which she holds a certificate in.  She is no stranger to the Asian-Canadian student association universe having served as the co-president and co-founder of her undergraduate Asian-Canadian society, and Vice-President of her Asian American Law Students Association in New York.

Prior to commencing her legal career, Wynnie lived in Northern California and held a number of managerial marketing and communications positions developing brands, overseeing marketing and advertising campaigns and dealing with anti-spam issues.

Karla Bobadilla is an associate at Lewis Birnberg Hanet, LLP. She represents clients in the areas of entertainment and media law, practicing primarily in film, television and new media rights acquisition, development, production and distribution/exploitation.

Karla represents film and television producers, distributors, broadcasters, film festivals and talent.  Karla is also the Sr. Vice-President, Business & Legal Affairs at Behind the Scenes Services Inc. which provides a full range of tax credit and business administration services to Canadian producers.  Previously, Karla worked at the Canadian Media Producers Association providing policy, government relations, strategic planning, advocacy and lobby work on behalf of a number of its genre and regional committees.  

Before the CFTPA, Karla spent much of her industry career as in-house legal counsel and corporate secretary at Astral Media’s Harold Greenberg Fund where she gained an appreciation of the complexities of feature film financing, from development to production to exploitation.  

Karla is also active in the not-for-profit cultural sector.  She is currently on the Board of WorkInCulture, and organization that supports the career and business needs of the cultural sector and she is the former Chair of the Board of the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival where she oversaw all corporate governance and corporate matters for the organization.

Leonard Glickman is a partner in the Business Law Group at Cassels Brock LLP, where he provides transactional and intellectual property advice to clients in the entertainment, sports, fashion, food and retail industries.

Len has chaired the Media & Communication Law Sections of the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association and taught Entertainment and Sports Law at Queen’s University for a number of years. He is a member of several industry trade associations including the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, the American Bar Association (ABA) Entertainment and Sports Law Forum (Chair-Elect), and the International Trademark Association (Member, Right of Publicity Committee). He is the co-author of the Music Law chapter of Entertainment Law in Canada, published by Butterworths.

Judy Joo is general counsel at The Evanov Radio Group. The Evanov Radio Group is an independent radio broadcasting company that has been in the business since 1984. The company has established itself as a leader in the Canadian radio industry and is proud to be one of the few independent broadcasters still left in the country. The company currently holds 18 commercial radio licences across Canada and has a longstanding track record of supporting the development of Canadian creative content through each of its radio stations (i.e. Z103.5, Proud FM, CIAO and The Jewel). Judy is also the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Ontario Bar Association’s Entertainment, Media and Communications Law Section.
